If you remember places like The Beaconette, Laborer Union Hall, F&M Patio then you remember this band.
The Glory Rhodes
Keith Spera wrote in a recent article of SOUND CHECK "They were the 'Bucktown Allstars' of the late 60s, a popular cover band that performed in venues across New Orleans at a variety of events."
Well THE"RE BACK....... and are ready to once again entertain you with their originals such as "I'm So Happy" and "Old Laces" and favorite music from the 60s that will keep the crowd dancing, singing, and remembering this great era. Together they have over 50 years of musical experience having performed in a variety of bands in and around Louisiana and the Gulf Coast, and national acts as Sonney & Cher, The Animals, The Turtles, The Byrds, Vanilla Fudge, and The Box Tops.
THE Glory Rhodes Consists of these members:
Ron Tallent - Drums/Vocals - Original Glory Rhodes member and has played in many groups including SOUTH, FM, Good Stuff to name a few.
John Laviolette - Bass/Vocals - Original Glory Rhodes member has performed in The Wanderers, Kolour, and The Clyde and Iggy Music Duo who performed weekly at Morning Call in City Park.
Tim Weller - Guitar/Vocals - Though not an original member of the Glory Rhodes, Tim has a musical resume to be envious by all. He has toured with Bill Haley's Comets, and performed with national acts as Andy Gibb, and the Coasters. Local bands include RBT, Mobetta, South Wind, Burgundy and SOUTH. Tim was inducted into the Louisiana Music Hall of Fame Entertainment Division in 2005.
Dave Johnson - Guitar/Vocals - Dave is the newest member of the group and was a contemporary of The Glory Rhodes back in the 1960s, playing music around New Orleans with two other popular bands, The Threshold of Sound and Blackmore. 60s music is in his DNA!
So if you want to return to the 60s and forget about today's issues - if only for a short period of time - give The Glory Rhodes a call and you won't be disappointed.
